Designer Swimwear

What is the big deal with designer swimwear anyway?  It is simply more expensive and not necessarily better looking. It is what celebrities wear when they lounge poolside to work on their year-round tan.  Well if that is your level of thinking, you are wrong.

True, designer swimsuits are more expensive (though they do not cost as much as you might think), but wearing designer swimwear is another way to be fashionable.

Like anything worth having, designer swimwear costs money.  Designer swimsuits are not the standard fare offered at the department store, where fashion lines have been mass-produced, ensuring abundance in quantity but lacking in style and unique qualities. Think about a cheap pair of flip-flops you bought out of necessity; they are utilitarian in nature, look cheap and do nothing for your feet. Now think about a time when you shelled out big bucks for a beautiful pair of strappy leather sandals; you felt sexy, confident and your legs looked totally hot. The same goes for designer swimwear.

Designer swimwear is available in one-piece and two-piece constructs. The great thing about designer swimwear is the extraordinary level of stylistic experimentation and interpretation. Some designer swimsuits are made from satin, cotton, nylon, denim, leather, silk and faux suede. How many super-marts have leather bikinis?

Not only do designers experiment with fabric, they also experiment with design. Some swimsuit designers incorporate such techniques as hand painting, sophisticated trims of mother of pearl and even embroidery.

Other trends in designer swimwear have included explosive colors. Designers are no longer dependent on basic black for their swimsuits. There are swimsuits available in wide array of tropical colors, jewel tones and deep neutral colors like chocolate and navy. One can only imagine what the patterned swimsuits are like!

Designer swimwear also comes with a range of accessories, like belts, buckles and rings. Some have patent leather belts in a coordinating or complementary color for a more tailored look, while others have low-slung belts and tassels for a casual, yet sexy look. Other accessories include matching totes, pareos, hats and sarongs.

Designer swimwear is available in many styles. You can find plenty of two-piece suits that come as bikinis, string bikinis, tankinis (a tank-top style top), monokinis (just the bottoms, no top), g-strings and thong bottoms. You can find designer swim tops with a bandeau styling, halter neck, surplice or blouson styles. There also are stylish one-pieces where designers can get creative with the neckline and the backline. You can go designer retro with a halter or bandeau top or ultra modern with a deep ‘v’ cutout lacing up the front. All in all, the options are endless when it comes to picking out a designer swimsuit.
